So many of us have a bad habit of
Procrastination…and that’s a big reason that we are unable to manage time effectively.
Maintaining logs, as u suggest is a perfect idea.
One has to understand his/her capabilities and set reasonable and do able targets.
And not just with others, but with self also we must not OVER COMMIT and under perform.☺️

If we adopt the 5 points you have raised… we will free up much more time to do other things which we enjoy more.
I would like to add that do your most difficult task in the morning when you are fresh.Do not keep ur for the end of the day.
